Someone once made the following statements which is 100% true.....

If the United States loses a soccer match in the World Cup or any other similar event, we will be care for about 20 minutes and then go on with our lives.

If other countries lose in the World Cup or soccer event, you will mourn for months as if it's the end of your world.

The bottom line is this.......

If the United States chose to take interest in soccer and more Americans athletes started playing it, they would dominate it EVENTUALLY just like other sports.

Luckily for those other countries that live & breathe soccer, the United States hasn't taken that interest........YET

Let's try to keep the debate clean and not so heated guys so it doesn't get out of hand...:toast:

Never will happen. We don't like soccer, and that isn't going to change.

With so many Mexican-Americans playing now & increasing, combined with the whites & blacks who are slowly taking interest, don't say never.

But some things are just fact.

The united states has better overall athletes.
Period.

It's just that we take interest in other sports, but if we CHOSE to take soccer more serious, well then, you know what would happen in time......

And with the youth of America more interested in basketball, baseball, and football, soccer will never be on the front burner here.

I have a theory on why USA doesn't like soccer.
We are an offense orientated country.
We like scoring, we like (I don't) but the majority of Americans like 11-7 baseball games with 4 homers in the game, we like fast paced 112-109 basketball games etc. etc.
Soccer is a beautiful game, but Americans don't go much for 1-0, 90 minutes of passing the ball in the midfield.

Just my two cents.

Don't get me wrong, I like this game & find it much more interesting than baseball.

But the contstant hate & criticism towards the U.S. regarding the game is uncalled for and the rest of the world knows our best athletes aren't playing this game yet still talk trash.

It's just like the World Games in basketball a few years ago when our best NBA players didn't play and we lost & other countries made a big deal out of it.

Then in the Olypmics our best players decided to play and set the record & the rest of the world straight by kicking azz.

It's the same thing in soccer.
If our top athletes were playing it, things would be different.

And I reiterate.
Don't think it won't happen one day with the increasing number of Mexican-Americans in the United States.....

We know nothing about soccer. We all played as kids where you kick the shit out of the ball and run like hell. Then we watch this slow pass back and forth game and 0-0 ties, and turn the channel after 10 minutes.

There are just too many good sports to waste time on this one.

I think that if they just made a few changes to the game we Americans might take a shine to it.

First thing they could do is stretch the ball out a little so it isn't so round. Then I might allow the players to actually carry the ball a little. Then you might have some defenders in there that could physically tackle the guy with the ball. You could also create a position where one player on the team calls plays and sometimes even passes this new ball to his teammates. And instead of a restrictive goal just create a line to cross that will score your team points. Maybe put up some kind of post where a kicker might be able to add additional points for your team.

These are just a few suggestions to make the game a little more exciting for us Americans.

Oh and change the name of the game from soccer to football.

lol Trust me I've been hearing crap for days now.

My girlfriend, her family, friends are all Mexicans.

They are the worst haters towards the United States regarding everything.
I've seen & heard it my whole life.

Her dad yesterday said "Awww the Americans are going home crying"
I stated that nobody really cared.
And today I said the same thing back..."Awww the Mexicans are going home crying" lol

All Mexicans have is their little soccer teams. This is the only thing they can proclaim to be better at.

At the end of the day where would you rather live in? Mexico or the United States?

Not going to happen. What great athlete is going to play soccer in the fall when he can play football?

The world loves soccer only because they don't play American football.

With the youth of America more interested in playing video games and eating Cheetos all day, we wont be the front runner in many categories very soon.

You are really making me laugh here! The arrogance is astonishing. Firstly if the USA took futbol seriously then of course they would be one of the super powers in the game, you have a population of over 300million (just to put it into perspective Ghana has a population of around 24million) and have all the best facilities. However countries like Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Italy, England etc eat breath and sleep futbol. Would the USA get their victories and win a world cup, of course, why not. But they would never dominate this sport. You dominate basketball because its not the national sport in any other country. Its not as important as futbol, not even close.

Please, before making such ridiculous statements take a moment to think about what you are saying.

Funny cause the US doesn't dominate Baseball or Hockey at a World level. No one else plays Football. Basketball is the only major sport in which we always dominate. And a US team composed of NBA players got schooled by Argentina who had only 2 NBA players.

As an American who loves soccer, I'm embarrassed to see shit like this posted and the ignorance spilling out of your heads.

If we all grew up watching soccer, we'd like it. Most grew up with Foots, bases and basketball.

First of all, I am venting a little bit because of what I've been hearing around the Hispanics I'm around daily.

Secondly, whether you admit it or not, the United States has the best OVERALL athletes.

You mention the sport of basketball.

Well, the best pure, overall athletes in the world are basketball players.
So you just contradicted yourself.

But seriously, the point I'm making is if more Amerian athletes took the game of soccer serious, it would be a different story.

I'm sorry but the rest of the world wouldn't be able to handle a roster full of Americans who run 4.2 - 40yd dashes with all other abilites that go hand in hand, can handle the futbol, and who grew up in the game's surroundings...
